Immigrant Resource Centre Official Opening New One-stop Service Hub in Scarborough for Newcomers

On Friday June 18th at 4:30 pm, the New Immigrant Resource Centre (IRC) officially opens its site at 2330 Midland Avenue to newcomers, immigrant families and youth.

Notable guests who will join us in celebrations include Senator Vivienne Poy, MP Paul Calandra, MP Jim Karygiannis, MPP Gerry Phillips, MPP Bas Balkissoon, Councillor Alex Chiu, Councillor Godwin Chan, Councillor Chin Lee and Sing Tao Foundation Chairman Andrew Go.

"The newly renovated IRC offers 35,000 square feet of space for newcomer services as well as space for community immigrant groups," said Ms. Moy Wong-Tam the Executive Director of CICS. "In such a multicultural city, a place to go to find support and build relationships is hard to come by. But at CICS, we are building bridges" remarked Mr. David Pao, the President of CICS.

The itinerary of the afternoon includes a ribbon cutting ceremony, tour of the premises, refreshments and performances from talented young members of the Toronto Chinese Orchestra. This newly renovated building is a brainchild of our staff, volunteers and board members present and past. Together with the Sing Tao Foundation, CICS had raised funds to renovate this space into our present establishment.
