Summer Student Youth Program Worker (York Region) (Pending Funding Approval from CSJ-2024)

Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Youth Worker will be
1. Assisting with general admin duties such as printing, photocopying, and filing.
2. Assessing group dynamics and collaborating with leadership personnel to create activities on a topic that benefits newcomer and immigrant community for desired outcomes such as relationship building, positive social interaction, and improved self-confidence.
3. Creating interactive activities to engage youth audience in-person, and possibly through the use of Zoom functions such as polling, whiteboard, breakout rooms, etc.
4. Supporting daily operations of youth programs (e.g. summer camps, holiday events), including flyer creation/translation, registration, data entry and facilitation.
5. Assisting facilitators with background management of Zoom during workshops. Troubleshooting while program is in-session, such as audio issues, chat response, breakout room maintenance, polling, etc.
6. Answering clients’ questions in social media groups. Liaising with staff to ensure answers are consistent and accurate.
7. Bringing up any issues or concerns from the community to staff in a timely manner.
8. Promoting program flyers to network and on social media channels.
9. The employee will mainly interact with the clients who will be youth summer camp participants, youth clients and volunteers, as well as parents/guardians of the participants

Required Qualifications: Post-Secondary
Language required for the position: English
Terms and Conditions:
- Salary: $16.55 per hour
- Hours of work: 35 hours per week
- Number of weeks: 12 (Pending Funding Approval from CSJ 2024)
- Anticipated start date / End Date: May 27 to August 23, 2024

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
- International students are not eligible.
