Job Title: Assistant Program Manager
Locations: 2330 Midland Ave & 3850 Finch Ave East
Hours: 35 hours per week; may require working irregular hours including evenings, Saturdays and some holidays
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist Program Manager of Toronto Settlement and Integration Services in all aspects of newcomer program operation and act on behalf of the Program Manager in his/her absence;
• In consultation with Program Manager, provide leadership and effective management to a team of youth settlement staff and provide written status reports including detailed project implementation timelines as requested;
• Oversee the implementation of evaluation measures on program effectiveness and recommend program improvement and refinement in areas of Orientation, Community Connections, Library Settlement Partnerships, Youth Settlement and other itinerant services;
• Work closely with the Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs), staff of public libraries, City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation and other facilities, and community organizations in maximizing the resources from these agencies as well as developing capacities in meeting the needs of clients, especially the youth;
• Support internal and community program development; participate in analytical, experimental, investigative and other fact-finding activities to enhance the best practices addressing immigration and settlement in communities;
• Coordinate among the team of settlement workers to outreach in the local community to promote CICS newcomer services objectives, build positive relationships, assist in the identification of community needs and build partnerships;
• Keep up to date on issues, policies and legislation affecting newcomers, especially newcomer youth;
• Supervise the preparation of Monthly Staff Duty Schedule and payroll summary;
• Supervise day to day program budget, expenditures and purchases made by the team; provide early disclosure on issues / risks to Program Manager.

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education or equivalent in Social Sciences or a related discipline. Relevant combination of training and experience will also be considered;
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role, preferably in non-profit setting;
• Excellent knowledge of cultural, economic and social needs of immigrant youth and their families, including their settlement and integration issues;
• Knowledge of programs and services for immigrant youth and their families, and resources available to assist them in integration and adaptation to the new society;
• Proven abilities in program and service organization and coordination, referrals, task management, and working with diverse cultures and mixed age groups;
• Demonstrated leadership skills with knowledge on motivation, experience in team building, decision making, delegation, conflict resolution, and problem solving;
• Experience in resource coordination and program/ service evaluation;
• Excellent oral and written English skills, public speaking, and report writing skills; proficiency in a language commonly used by clients – Chinese;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to operate effectively within the organization and externally through interaction, connection, and communication;
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines;
• Ability to focus on detail, planning and information analysis, and report preparation;
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, internet, and Google services.

Other Requirements:
• Ability to perform some physical activities (e.g. lifting and loading program materials and office equipment);
• Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory;
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and must have access to a car to carry out duties.
