Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Conduct new student orientation for blended learning, introduce the Learning Management System, and demonstrate basic technological skills required, such as Avenue.ca navigation, email, Zoom, and Office 365 for online learning;
· Provide ongoing one-on-one remote/ in-person support to LINC students to troubleshoot problems in accessing and using the e-learning component of their LINC classes;
· Using appropriate authoring tools, create a repertoire of digital tutorials to assist LINC students with the learning of relevant digital devices, tools, and platforms for their classes;
· Develop, plan, organize, facilitate and implement digital skills training for LINC students to learn to use various learning tools and platforms, and thus increase their access to learning resources and engagement in programs;
· Develop, review and revise learning materials, such as instructional guides, handouts and workbooks, for digital skills training for use in the LINC program;
· Assist in the distribution of program Chromebooks to LINC students, offer initial orientation, and provide ongoing trouble-shooting to ensure a smooth user experience;
· On a need basis, support LINC instructors in their use of digital technology to ensure effective design and smooth delivery of the online component of the LINC classes;
· Seek and create innovative opportunities to promote programs both internally and externally. Help improve the online presence of the program on social media platforms including but not limited to WeChat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Little Red Book;
· Assist program management in updating LINC program’s social media platforms (WeChat, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube) with promotional materials;
· Facilitate access to needed services and resources by providing interpretation;
· Establish and maintain excellent working relationship and communication with internal and external groups;
· Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
· A minimum of a Canadian degree or equivalent in Education, Social Sciences, Business and Marketing, Computer Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
· Minimum of two years of relevant experience, preferably in a front-line service role and non-profit setting.
· Advanced user-level skills with digital tools and platforms often used for online learning, such as Zoom, Learning Management Systems (e.g., Avenue), Google-related products (e.g., Google Form, Google Classroom, Gmail, YouTube, etc.), Microsoft Teams, Adobe PDF, WeChat, and WhatsApp;
· Familiarity with a variety of digital devices commonly used by clients, such as computers (PC, MacBook, and Chromebooks), tablets (Android and iPad), and smart phones (Android and iPhone);
· Demonstrated ability to use various authoring tools to create clear and accessible digital tutorials with videos, pictures, sounds, texts, and diagrams;
· Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with immigrants from a variety of linguistic, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds;
· Good understanding of adult learning principles and demonstrated ability to offer effective learning solutions, including identifying learning needs, creating learning materials, presenting information in simple, clear, and accessible language, and designing learning activities to facilitate knowledge digestion, retention, and application;
· Experience in developing and implementing digital marketing strategies an asset;
· Excellent communication skills, oral and written proficiency in English, preferably a second language of Mandarin and/or Cantonese;
· Self-starter and fast learner – able to work both independently and as part of a team;
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to perform some physical activities (e.g. lifting and loading program materials and office equipment);
- A negative result in Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory;
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a car to carry out duties is preferred.
