Funded by the Federal Government of Canada under Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), CICS is recruiting candidates to fill the following summer youth employment position in our Markham location.

Job Title:

Event Coordinator 

 Tasks and Responsibilities:

-  assist and support the centre through the summer, by ensuring events are running smoothly

- helping to bring in community resources, while also promoting our program and services to the community

- help facilitate program planning and delivery

-help increase community awareness of the centre and its program and services available to the community

-maintain positive and sustainable professional relationships with internal and external partners

-communicate and interact with clients, staff, and community partners

-help research and identify community events and outreach opportunities

-participate in outreach activities

-assist in educating and engaging community members

-support our social media strategies and digital platforms

-communicate with team members and regular meetings to plan and discuss this project

Required Qualifications:  post-Secondary          

Language required for the position:  English, Cantonese and Mandarin

Terms and Conditions:

  • Salary: $16.55 per hour
  • Hours of work: 35 hours per week
  • No. of weeks: 8
  • Anticipated Start Date / End Date: July 02 to August 23, 2024

 Applicant MUST meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
  • International students are not eligible.
